How much can wetlands protect us from the impacts of climate change today, and will they still be able to a century from now? On Sept. 21, scientists James Holmquist and Genevieve Noyce will reveal the latest findings from experiments on the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center's Global Change Research Wetland, where scientists are fast-forwarding to the year 2100. They'll also explore how scientists are using big data to calculate what coastal wetlands around the world mean for Earth's carbon budget and efforts to mitigate climate change. Hosted by the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center.
