To celebrate the re-opening of the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum and the debut of “Food for the People”—the indoor portion of the museum’s ground-breaking new exhibition—some of DC’s leading food justice advocates join the Smithsonian on the virtual stage. During this lively panel discussion, they will take a hard look at DC’s food landscape. Why has the capital city of one of the wealthiest countries in the world struggled so mightily with food insecurity, unequal access to healthy foods, and persistent health disparities? And how has DC become a national leader in the food equity movement? Panelists will share their range of experiences working for food justice in the nation’s capital, and tell you what you can do to help the cause. Hosted by the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum.
