Ellen Lebedow, LCSW-C, Community Clinical Liaison, JSSA Hospice Staff, will show the award-winning film, "Alive Inside," and discuss how these concepts have been implemented into JSSA's Hospice Program.  Rev. Deborah Vaughn, JSSA Hospice chaplain (and music therapist) and Arlen Gaines, experienced JSSA Hospice volunteer, will join her to discuss the benefits not only to patients but to caregivers as well.

"Alive Inside" portrays the deep-seated emotional effect that music can have upon individuals, especially those with dementia.  The program uses the iPod to play familiar music to the patient.  This often has a calming effect, but at times can stimulate long-forgotten activity and memories.

In addition to reporting some of the results of Hospice has seen using this technique, Ms. Lebedow and her colleagues will answer questions from the audience.

All are welcome!
